Turkey’s Botas may keep Saros FSRU on hold

The state-owned company may delay work on the planned Saros FSRU while Turkey increases its regasification and pipeline capacity.

Turkish state-owned gas player Botas is still at the FEED stage for its Saros FSRU, meaning the vessel may miss its planned startup date of late 2018.

“FEED studies are still going on,” a well-placed source in the Turkish energy sector, who wished to remain anonymous, told Interfax Natural Gas Daily.

The Saros vessel, which will have a regasification capacity of 6.6 billion cubic metres per year, would be moored north of the Gallipoli Peninsula in northwestern Turkey and was due to be brought online.
